Cumberland Academy Interview:
My name is Debbie Scarborough, and I am the co-founder of Cumberland Academy of Georgia. We opened in September of ’07 of last year. We have made it through our first year, just an incredible year.
We are a special needs school that specializes in Aspergers, ADD and ADHD. We needed to get a brand out there started and I called upon Hughes Media to help us, and Deedra and her staff developed our logo, and really helped brand what we were looking for: everything from colors to shape to size; worked on our flyers; moved along; we did a fund raiser, she did all of our invitations; she continues to do our brochures, and then we grew obviously to our website, and our website management, and the website has been an incredible source of income exposure.
We have gotten calls from Dubai, we had a couple who is moving to Atlanta and they Googled “Aspergers in Georgia” and they were able to pick us up immediately. I had no idea that they could get us in Dubai. Then we got a call from a lady who lives in Sandy Springs who had never heard of us, but her sister in New Jersey Googled “Asperger in Georgia” and her sister in New Jersey told her in Sandy Springs about a school in Sandy Springs, which was amazing – hence [they] are attending our school.
We had today a group from California, and that drove from California because they could not find a school in California. They heard about us – all with web optimization, and that all happened through Hughes Media. I did not have a clue on how to do that or how to “get it out there,” and Deedra and her staff made sure that we were positioned properly and that we were able to get the point across to the people that we needed to get it across to. She used keywords and everything else that she needed she got out of me so that she could be able to put on the website to be able to optimize the usage.
